CORE PROGRAMS
CPCD...giving children a head start prepares young children for success in school and in life. All programs are offered to families at no cost.
Head Start PreschOOL
Head Start Preschool is our largest and best known program. Through this program, CPCD provides educational, physical and behavioral health, and nutritional services for children 3 to 5 years of age. Families receive education and support to assist them in fulfilling their role as their child’s first and best teacher.
Universal preschool
Families in Colorado can receive at least 15 hours per week of free, voluntary preschool for 4-year-olds through the Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado program. 3-year-olds with qualifying factors are eligible for 10 free hours per week. Some families can add this on to Head Start for full day school and child care. At CPCD, children and families in UPK receive many of the same services offered for Head Start families such as health screenings and family support.
Early head start
Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children ages birth to 3. This program serves to enhance the development of very young children while promoting healthy family functioning and school readiness.

CPCD partners with 5 local school districts, districts 2, 3, 8, 11, and 49. These districts donate valuable classroom space, knowing that the children who enter kindergarten from CPCD will have the skills and knowledge to be successful.
