WELCOME TO VOLUNTEERING AT CPCD

CPCD strives to be known and respected for excellence in volunteerism among early childhood education providers. We see an organization where volunteers - both civic and family - work as partners at all levels, and where their contributions are embraced, valued, and recognized. Volunteer involvement will be expanded and enhanced through exemplary training programs and tools. Our organization welcomes the diversity that volunteers bring to our work, and is committed to providing growth and development for those who choose to contribute their resources.

CPCD Philosophy of Volunteering

Volunteers are integral partners in preparing our community’s most vulnerable children for success in school and life. Civic and family volunteers contribute time, knowledge, skills, and leadership that infuse CPCD with energy and passion to sustain and grow its mission.

Toward the continued pursuit of excellence in volunteerism and in support of volunteers as valued members of the CPCD team, the Board of Directors, Policy Council, Executive Leadership, and staff make the following commitment to the volunteer community at CPCD.

  1. The organization will support volunteer resources and provide appropriate staffing to manage the volunteer program.

  2. Staff will facilitate a positive environment for volunteers working in their areas.  This will involve welcoming them, assisting them, mentoring them when necessary, and thanking them regularly for their contribution.

  3. CPCD staff will play a role in orienting, training, directing, evaluating, and recognizing volunteers working in their areas.

  4. CPCD staff who are directing volunteers will be oriented to the needs of volunteers.  In specific terms, all new staff, as part of their orientation, will receive instruction from the Volunteer Manager and Coordinator, and all staff working with volunteers will receive ongoing education from the Volunteer Manage and Coordinator as required.

  5. Staff working with volunteers will be recognized for this contribution and volunteers will be supported and recognized for their creative and effective partnerships with each other and staff.
